Project Overview:
High-mast lighting truss towers for sports arenas and athletic fields operate under aggressive open-air conditions. Positioned at significant heights, these tubular lattice structures are fully exposed to extreme solar radiation, temperature fluctuations, and monsoon downpours. Because structural maintenance and recoating at elevated heights involve complex access logistics and costly downtime, the steel fabricator required a high-durability, C4/C5-capable coating system applied under controlled shop conditions prior to site erection.
Short Summary:
Industrial protective coating supply by Kontech to the steel fabricator for sports field high-mast lighting truss towers. Engineered to withstand relentless outdoor weathering, high-altitude wind-driven rain, and intense UV exposure, the tubular steel assemblies were primed with Interseal 670HS high-solids epoxy (Color F684) and finished with Interthane 990 high-gloss aliphatic polyurethane (Color L549 Green) for long-term corrosion prevention and color retention.
Application Area:
Tubular Steel Lattice Towers, High-Mast Floodlight Trusses, Flange Connections, & Base Mountings
Coating System Specification:
High-Build Epoxy Primer / Barrier: Interseal 670HS (Color: F684 Grey)
A two-component, high-solids, low-VOC surface-tolerant epoxy primer. Applied directly after structural fabrication, it creates a dense, impermeable barrier that provides galvanic protection and seals tubular joints, gusset plates, and welded seam intersections against moisture ingress.
High-Gloss Polyurethane Topcoat: Interthane 990 (Color: L549 Green)
A premium two-component aliphatic acrylic polyurethane finish. Formulated for harsh atmospheric exposure, it delivers outstanding gloss retention, high impact and abrasion resistance during transit/erection, and excellent UV resistance to prevent chalking and yellowing.
